our story
Claire Hart Equine was founded in 2014, when Claire moved her business from Chipping Campden to Fern Farm near Adlestrop. We then moved to our beautiful yard near Blockley, Moreton in Marsh in spring 2022. One part of the business is the point to point training, which went hand in hand with Claire’s racing career and the whole team have enjoyed some amazing days racing and made special memories. The other part of the business is the pre-training, breaking, livery, rest and rehab. We are very proud of the horses that we have had through the yard that have gone on to many successful achievements, new careers and happy retirements. As well as the horses, we have built up great relationships with many owners and trainers and are very grateful for their on-going loyalty and support.
Here at CHE there’s a team of talented people without whom it wouldn’t be the successful and happy workplace that we have today. We know from experience that the happy vibe rubs off on the horses both mentally and physically. We work hard but we try not to take ourselves too seriously! It’s a team with a variety of backgrounds bringing different skills and years of experience in the horsey world.
our mantra is happy horses, happy people!

Gareth Price
Gareth is our Yard Manager, main work rider and Claire’s life partner. He only began racehorse riding in August 2021 but has an inate affinity with the horses and an abundance of natural talent. He has the best teacher in Claire and is not phased by any horse. His ambition is to be race riding in 2023, his partner in crime is currently Parkgate and they have progressed brilliantly together, as with his previous horse, Vasco du Mee. Gareth is also our project manager, facilities engineer, head landscaper and is pretty handy at climbling trees.

“The road to victory is paved with chocolate”

Hayley Finlay
Hayley has ridden horses since a child and show jumped successfully as a teenager. She is a brilliantly supportive member of the team, working for Claire since 2012. An excellent rider over the jumps and on the flat, she has built some formidable partnerships, especially with some of the more quirky mares. Hayley is extremely loyal and has a strong work ethic. She is also a vital member of the pointing team and can usually be seen at meetings with a horse in one hand and glass of fizz in the other.
Hayley says…
“Put me on the grumpy ones, we’re a good match”

Emily Medcroft
Emily has a wealth of experience in the racing industry, initiallly working for a variety of jump trainers before moving into accounts and office-based roles. As Claire’s PA, accounts secretary and dearest friend she is a huge support, helping keep Claire sane and ensuring everything on the business side runs smoothly. She is the most organised and efficient person you could ever meet and we would be lost without her.

“It’s fine, we’ll sort it”

Rachel Talbot
Rachel is an excellent rider, eventer and fearless teamchaser who has been an invaluable member of the team since 2016. She has worked in the racing industry for over 10 years originally with Jonjo O’Neill and then Charlie Longsdon. Rachel has a real talent for horse healing and an infectious personality which always brightens our day.

Kate Miller
Kate is our media, social and comms person and also runs the 360 Racing Club. She worked for many years in the betting industry and has been around racehorses on and off for most of her working life. Not shy of tea-making and mucking in with a shovel when required, she loves being around the horses, though preferring to handle them from ground level! Kate loves to meet people too and could well be the first one to offer you a cuppa when you visit.
Kate says…
“Working for Claire is a blessing for me, being in such a fun yard and being around the horses is something I never take for granted”
