our story

Claire Hart Equine was founded in 2014, when Claire moved her business from Chipping Campden to the beautiful Fern Farm near Adlestrop. One part of the business is the point to point training, which went hand in hand with Claire’s racing career and the whole team have enjoyed some amazing days racing and made special memories. The other part of the business is the pre-training, breaking, re-homing, livery, rest and rehab. We are very proud of the horses that we have had through the yard that have gone on to many successful achievements, new careers and happy retirements. As well as the horses, we have built up great relationships with many owners and trainers and are very grateful for their on-going loyalty and support.

Here at CHE there’s a whole team of talented people without whom it wouldn’t be the successful and happy workplace that we have today. We know from experience that the happy vibe rubs off on the horses both mentally and physically. We work hard at Fern Farm but our unique culture is created by each and every personality and we try not to take ourselves too seriously! It’s a team with a variety of backgrounds bringing different skills and years of experience in the racing world.

our mantra is happy people, happy horses!

meet the team...

Vicky
Clements

Vicky has been working at CHE since 2015 and is the best Head Girl that Claire could ask for. She’s passionate about the job and above all else her love for the horses is plain to see. Never any drama with our Vicky, everything is done with a smile on her face and natural flair, skill and patience. Brilliant with the youngsters, she plays a huge part in the ground-work side of the breaking process and with schooling. Her winter weekends are dedicated to point to point where she heads up the team at meetings.

Vicky says…

“I enjoy coming to work every day, no two days are the same and there’s never a dull moment. One of my favourite parts of the job is working with the youngsters, there’s no better feeling than teaching a horse it’s job and knowing we’ve given it the best start in life”

Hayley
Finlay

Hayley has ridden horses since a child and show jumped successfully as a teenager. She is a brilliantly supportive member of the team, working for Claire since 2012. An excellent rider over the jumps and on the flat, she has built some formidable partnerships, especially with some of the more quirky mares. Hayley has a wonderful personality, great loyalty and strong work ethic. She is also a vital member of the pointing team and can usually be seen at meetings with a horse in one hand and glass of fizz in the other.

Hayley says…

“Put me on the grumpy ones, we’re a good match”

Dawn Bridgewater

Dawn has ridden out for Claire since 2014. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience with horses having worked in flat and NH yards for most of her life as well as producing and competing with her own horses in eventing, team-chasing and show jumping. She is a very talented work rider, is always happy to muck in (and out!) and is also particularly good with the mares. Dawn is a knowledgable and loyal team member who is thoroughly dependable and always calm in any crisis.

Dawn says…

“Don’t you dare point that camera at me”

Emily
Medcroft

Emily has a wealth of experience in the racing industry, initiallly working for a variety of jump trainers before moving into accounts and office-based roles. As Claire’s PA, accounts secretary and dearest friend she is a huge support, helping keep Claire sane and ensuring everything on the business side runs smoothly. She is the most organised and efficient person you could ever meet and we would be lost without her.

Emily says…

“It’s fine, we’ll sort it”

Sian
Brooke

Sian has been riding for 10 years and has her own horses which she does a bit of everything with, mainly eventing. She is a brave and talented rider who is unphased by any horse. Sian is looking forward to gaining more experience particularly with the breakers, she is already showing a good affinity with them as she is always happy, calm and collected.

Sian says…

“My favourite part of the job is seeing the youngsters progress. I’ve learned a lot since I started working at Claire’s from riding/handling all the different horses that we have through the yard”

Simon
Hart

Simon is the epitome of the all-round horseman, having competed in many equestrian disciplines. His experience in these fields plays an invaluable part in our education of young horses on the flat, dressage and show jump schooling and particularly with the RoR horses. He has been involved in p2p for 40 years as rider, owner and meeting organiser. Always on call no matter what is required of him, Simon’s passion and sense of humour shine through every day and we are incredibly fortunate to have him as a member of our team.

Simon says…

“No, you will listen to me, now walk on”

Molly
King

Molly has always ridden and spent her life around horses. When she was a child she wanted to be a jockey. She rode as an amateur and apprentice on the flat before going to work for Emma Lavelle for 3 seasons. She has riden for us in between short spells riding track work in Australia and at Joseph O’Brien’s in Ireland. We are very pleased to have Molly back as part of the team, a brilliant pilot, delightful to have around the yard and a megawatt smile to cheer any horse or human.

Molly says…

“I’m very happy to be able to work for Claire again and my favourite part of the job is seeing the horses progress and having such a variety to ride”

Rachel
Talbot

Rachel is an excellent rider, eventer and fearless teamchaser who has been an invaluable member of the team since 2016. She has worked in the racing industry for over 10 years originally with Jonjo O’Neill and then Charlie Longsdon. Rachel is one of our vital equine massage therapists and is a great asset to have when she is on-site treating the horses. Rachel has a real talent for horse healing and an infectious personality which always brightens our day.

Rachel says…

“Faster!…higher!…”

Becca
Elliott

Becca is a brilliant all-rounder who helps to ensure the smooth and organised running of the yard while we ride out. She is always smiling and happy to do anything and everything. An excellent cuppa maker, bonfire builder and yard tidier! There’s no-nonsense with this gorgeous Northerner and she is a hugely appreciated team member who looks after everybody and somehow finds time for her own family as well!

Becca says…

“Don’t worry I’ve brought biscuits!”

Kate
Miller

Kate is our media, social and comms queen. She worked for many years in the betting industry and has been around racehorses on and off for most of her working life. Not shy of tea-making and mucking in with a shovel when required, she enjoys being involved in the RoR side of things and being around the horses, though preferring to handle them from ground level! Kate loves to meet people too and could well be the first one to offer you a cuppa when you visit.

Kate says…

“Working for Claire is a blessing for me, being in such a fun work place and being around racehorses is something I never take for granted. I drive Claire mad with the rehomers as I just want us to keep them all!”
