Claire Hart Equine was founded in 2014, when Claire moved her business from Chipping Campden to the beautiful Fern Farm near Adlestrop. One part of the business is the point to point training, going hand in hand with Claire’s racing career and the whole team have enjoyed some amazing days racing and made some special memories. The other part of the business is the pre-training, breaking, re-homing, livery, rest and rehab. We are very proud of the horses that we have had through the yard that have gone on to many successful achievements and happy retirements. As well as the horses, we have built up great relationships with many owners and trainers and are very grateful for their on-going loyalty and support.
Here at CHE there’s a whole team of talented people without whom it wouldn’t be the successful and happy workplace that we have today. We know from experience that the happy vibe rubs off on the horses both mentally and physically. We work hard at Fern Farm but our unique culture is created by each and every personality and we try not to take ourselves too seriously! It’s a team with a variety of backgrounds bringing different skills and years of experience in the racing world.
Our mantra is happy people, happy horses!
meet the team
Vicky has been working at CHE since 2015. She has a great attitude and willingness to learn and is the best Head Girl that Claire could ask for. She’s passionate about the job and her love for the horses is plain to see. She is conscientious and trustworthy and does everything with a smile on her face. With natural flair, skill and patience, Vicky plays a huge part in the ground-work side of the breaking process and in schooling. Her winter weekends are dedicated to p2p where she heads up the team at meetings.
Hayley has ridden horses since a child and show jumped successfully as a teenager. She is a brilliantly supportive member of the team and has worked for Claire since 2012. She is an excellent rider on the flat and has built up formidable partnerships especially with some of our more quirky mares. Hayley has a wonderful personality, great loyalty and strong work ethic. She is also a vital member of the pointing team and can usually be seen at meetings with a horse in one hand and glass of fizz or cider in the other, limited only by her number of hands!
With a lifetime spent around horses running a p2p and livery yard Helen is a brilliant horsewoman with an invaluable and encyclopaedic knowledge, Claire could not be without her. Our Mother of the Yard, an exemplory and experienced work rider who instinctively knows what’s going on in a horse’s mind and body. Helen is our on-site equine massage therapist who knows how to get the best out of every horse, no ache or pain gets past her! A regular throughout the pointing season, heading the on-course support team and dishing out the riding instructions.
Simon is the epitome of the all-round horseman, having competed in many equestrian disciplines. His experience in these fields plays an invaluable part in our education of young horses on the flat and in show jump schooling. He has been involved in p2p for 40 years as rider, owner and meeting organiser. Always on call no matter what is required of him, Simon’s passion and sense of humour shine through every day and we are incredibly fortunate to have him as a member of our team.
Dawn has ridden out here since 2014. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience with horses having worked in flat and NH yards for most of her life as well as producing and competing with her own horses in eventing, team-chasing and show jumping. She is an excellent work rider and is also particularly good with the mares. Dawn is a thoroughly loyal team member who is calm, dependable and completely reliable.
Becca is a brilliant all-rounder who oversees the smooth and organised running of the yard while we ride out. She is always smiling and happy to do anything and everything. An excellent cuppa maker, bonfire builder and yard tidier! She is a much appreciated team member.
Being Claire’s dearest friend it is great to have Emily now on the team. She has a wealth of experience in the racing industry, initiallly working for a variety of jump trainers before moving into accounts and office-based roles. As Claire’s PA and secretary she is a huge support, helping keep Claire sane and ensuring everything on the business side runs smoothly, as well as helping out in the yard. She is the most organised and efficient person you could ever meet!
Rachel is an excellent rider who has been an invaluable member of the team since 2016. She has worked in the racing industry for over 10 years originally with Jonjo O’Neill and then Charlie Longsdon. Currently completing an Equine Sport Massage Diploma and working alongside Helen treating the horses. Rachel has a real talent for horse healing and infectious personality which brightens any day.
Gills has been a great friend to CHE and is a great help throughout the winter months, a master lorry driver and owner entertainer on p2p race days. She fits all of this in and around her day job as an organiser and promoter of vintage motor sport. A brilliant personality with a ready smile, she can do everything from fixing a jeep to making the perfect picnic.
Nick has been involved in horses his entire life. He’s in the yard every day generally doing all the hard work such as tractor driving, moving, clearing and keeping everything running efficiently. Without him everything would come to a messy and grinding halt very quickly. During the pointing season he can be found every weekend at meetings, usually surrounded by friends with a smile on his face and a glass of cider!
A busy yard can’t keep moving without the team and other important people that work hard for us here are Sara Moule who provides help in the yard and Sandra Hardwick who keeps our day room clean and tidy. Fran Allman, Grace Nailor, Sam Canning and George Prince are also key team members when available.
